The MFTVB's 3rd Annual Toys For Tots Star Wars Holiday Special Screening [11 Dec 2009|03:43pm]

The MFTVB's 3rd Annual Toys For Tots Star Wars Holiday Special Screening
Come on...it's for kids!
Wednesday, December 16, 2009
9:00pm - 11:30pm
Bryant Lake Bowl
810 West Lake Street
Minneapolis, MN
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=189308309474

For the second year in a row the Minnesota Film & TV Board is taking the misery of watching the worst thing in the history of television to the Bryant Lake Bowl. Bring an unwrapped toy or two to donate, grab your beverage of choice from the friendly wait staff and watch Bea Arthur sing to the cantina song. Pick up tips in the kitchen with Chewbacca's wife, Nala. Enjoy some soft core VR porn with Chewie's dad, Itchy. Contemplate throwing a brick at something after listening to little wookie Lumpy whine...forever.

The screening is FREE but we are requesting a toy donation as this event is now an official TOYS FOR TOTS event. Those bringing an unwrapped toy donation get priority seating. Representatives from the organization will be on hand to haul the goods away. Please help us make a happy holiday season for some kids.

We'll have a drawing for some goodies from local vendors and the Minnesota Film & TV Board. Details to follow.

Join MN Film Fanatics for information and a chance to win tickets to this and other locals events (winners of the MN Film Fanatics Star Wars trivia contest will have a reserved table in the BLB screening room.):

PREPARE TO PARTY:
THE IFP MN FRESH FÊTE APPROACHES

http://www.ifpmn.org/eflash/images/Gala.jpg

We had such a great time at the IFP MN 20th Anniversary Gala last year (pictured left) that we decided to do it again. Only this time, we are focused not on the past, but on the future.

On July 23, The IFP MN Fresh Fête will celebrate the future of Minnesota film and photography.  The night will feature a private screening of Fresh Filmmaker Production grant winner Emily Haddad's The Egg Timer as well as the best short films made by the talented young filmmakers in IFP Mn's youth program.

Also, it being a gala and all, we'll also have great music, amazing silent auction items and a chance to socialize with your fellow IFP members and friends.  Call 651-644-1912 for tickets or to volunteer!

Guy Maddin @ The Heights [16 Jun 2009|12:41pm]

From: "tim"

Subject: Two days to Guy Maddin @ The Heights

hiya folks,

Welp, this Thursday Mr. Maddin will be pullin in to The Heights. We have added a special treat for YOU. Prior to the screening of Saddest Music in the World, we will be showing Maddin's short film Heart of the World in 35mm. Made for the Toronto Film Festival, it is the best 6 minutes you will experience. As a bonus Mr. Maddin will be performing the short LIVE, reading the interstitial titles with GUSTO!

The Talkies, still evolving, provides you, the viewer, a new an exciting way to experience a film the way it was intended to be seen, in 35mm, with the director providing un-moderated commentary. The results have proven to far outweigh the money typically spent on the dvd. It's not so easy to convey the sense of discovery (not only for you, the viewer, but the director as well) that will be experienced but I can guarantee it will be a night that will be hard to forget.

The Talkies is doing its small small part in restoring the health or love of what the cinema is and can be.

For tickets head to: http://thetalkies.net or they will also be available at the door. Cheers! Tim

EXTRAS WANTED FOR TWIN CITIES FEATURE FILM

Sundance director Patrick Coyle is shooting a feature film in the Twin Cities from May 19 - June 14, starring Jeremy Sisto (Law & Order, Six Feet Under,
Waitress) Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies, The West Wing, Running With Scissors, Wicked) and Brian Baumgartner (The Office).

The film is called INTO TEMPTATION, and it is a contemporary drama about a Catholic priest who tries to help a prostitute.

Please be aware that:
• Our budget is tight, you will not make a dime
• You may have to miss a few hours of work or stay up late
• Your face may never make it into the final cut
• You might not even get a lousy credit

If you’re still interested, we need people of all shapes, colors, sizes and ages, so tell us about yourself! We need to know your gender, age, ethnicity, and a few words about your general appearance—petite, extra large, multiple tattoos, thick glasses, balding, full beard—stuff like that. Feel free to send a photo if it’s easier. Be sure to indicate if you’re under 18—you’ll need written permission from a parent or guardian, if so. Also, please give an idea of your scheduling availability and conflicts.

Send a very brief description of yourself and your availability to: intotemptationextras@earthlink.net

We will reply to all queries, but it may take a few days.

Thank you! AND FEEL FREE TO FORWARD TO FRIENDS!

The Parkway and Take-Up Productions are presenting their second film noir series. The first series was excellent and these look like they'll be just as good. This includes a few flicks that aren't available through netflix.

Click for awesome film poster...So Cool So CruelCollapse )

The Parkway has been under new ownership for some time now, and the changes they've made include: hot water in bathrooms and greatly decreased mold smell! Hooray!
